Super Sunday {Happy Easter}

Happy Easter!  This day is one of my favorite days of the year.  As a Christian, it is THE defining holiday of what our faith is all about.  It is the celebration of the Risen Lord, who died for OUR sins!

This year, we attended the Vigil Mass on Saturday night.  It was a beautiful mass -- lovely music, bells ringing, candles lit, incense and the celebration of baptisms and confirmations of new members.  It began at 8:30 p.m. -- bedtime for some of our little people.  Avery handled it like a pro.  Sam was asleep on Dennis's shoulder by 9:15, and awoke at the end of mass, almost 2 hours from the beginning.

I really wanted a picture of the kids in their Easter outfits, but try getting a 2 year old to smile two hours into his normal sleeptime:
I think the picture says it all!  This one is a little better:

Our attempt at a family photo:
The beautifully decorated altar -- so many pretty flowers!

We have enjoyed time together today -- prayer time and breakfast from McDonald's, playing games, and making some treats for a celebration later in the afternoon.

Avery, Rachael and I made Easter Candy Bark from this blog post.  We decided to use Peeps, jelly beans, M&M's, Robin Eggs, and sprinkles.

As I was chopping up the Peeps, Avery said, "It's like we're slaughtering them."  Spoken like the true daughter of a meat scientist!

Ours didn't turn out quite as pretty as the one in the blog post, but we had fun making it....and I'm sure, later today, eating it!

Have a blessed Easter!

Hi there. Just wanted to say I enjoyed your blog. I found it from one of your comments on Pioneer Woman's site. I noticed you haven't blogged yet in May at all. Get crackin'! I like your recipe posts too, keep them coming.
