"No offense...

but your flowers have never looked like this."
This, from my 9 year old son after I commented on how pretty my flowers were. I am a self admitted black thumb. This year, my mother-in-law helped me out in the late spring by weeding my back flower bed and planting zinnia seeds for me. They sprouted and the girls and I made sure to water them daily. And then we were blessed with lots of rain and mild weather.

Last summer, I planted a cone flower bush. It never bloomed and I had lost hope. I was so excited to see it come back this year and then bloom! Aren't they pretty?
We were able to enjoy the fruits of our labor recently with some pretty flowers on our dinner table, complete with matching pink placemats. Now I need to get to work on those front flower beds!
