Happy Easter!

Wow! We had a wonderful Easter this year, preceded by a most meaningful Lent. Dennis and I are realizing more and more the importance of focusing on the reason behind each season as we raise our children in the Catholic and Christian faith. This year, we spent extra time in prayer and reflection as a family, and when Holy Week arrived, made the events of the week a priority. After the busy week of church, school and work activities, it was time to catch up on housework and laundry on Saturday -- which I was able to do with the kids' help. We were ready for Easter Sunday!
(Once, while on a college judging team, we visited a hog operation where the owners kept everything neat and tidy, just in case the Lord came to visit. That was our mindset on Saturday, because, as you can imagine, I have a hard time working at home with small children and having everything neat and tidy all of the time. But Sunday morning, the house looked really nice -- you know, just in case Jesus dropped by!)
I got up early and ran into town to get an Easter message on our store chalkboard, then thought McDonald's sounded great for our Easter breakfast! Everyone loved it, since we seldom eat out, especially for breakfast, and it saved time since we were going to the 9 a.m. Mass. We got ready and headed into town, running slightly late. Wouldn't you know that a policeman happened to be patroling the area as we were driving through, and Dennis was pulled over. The policeman was kind enough to let us get to church without a ticket, and the Mass was wonderful! Did you know that according to the Church, Easter is an 8 day event? A priest friend of ours mentioned this in a card he sent us. So I am waiting to take my decorations down, and we will be singing and saying Alleluia all week! He is Risen!
